Maria Whitcomb

Development Operations & Database Manager

Maria Whitcomb, Development Operations & Database Manager, is a rising soprano and arts administrator who is excited to begin her career in the Boston area. Being a member of the Development team is a source of joy for Maria as she strives to implement fundraising operations that will propel Boston Baroque into the future and increase efficacy of communications. She also works to plan donor experiences that create meaningful extra-musical memories for our community, and considers last year’s Banchetto Musicale to be her favorite professional achievement.

Maria recently earned her MM in Opera Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, and remains active in the Boston musical community. She will appear this season with Shift Orchestra Project, The Pandora Consort, and Nightingale Vocal Ensemble. Maria also enjoys strong relationships with local composers, and will premiere/perform works by Bruno Faria and David Owens in upcoming concerts. This December, Maria will also enjoy a debut with Music On Site, Inc. where she will perform Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Prior to her time in Boston, Maria achieved success in Central New York during her time at Syracuse University. She earned not only a BM in Vocal Performance from Syracuse University's Setnor School of Music but also an MA in Arts Leadership Administration from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Newhouse School of Communications, and the Whitman School of Management.

Maria is a native of New York State’s beautiful Catskill Mountain region. She has maintained strong ties to home through her involvement as a Young Artist with Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, where she has appeared in numerous productions and masterclasses over the better part of a decade. She also began her arts administration career at home, serving as the House Manager for the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College before her move to Boston.
